• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Why did the classifieds do away with reply?

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

My guess is that one's post in the classifieds should be more like an ad in the paper than a open auction site. Anyone interested can contact the seller by PM & their negotiations are then private, as they should be. If you don't get any feedback by PM, then you don't have any serious interest in the item.

Paulson and Marlin got it just right, thanks for your help!

And, several times an interesting thread was started in the classifieds instead of started in one of the more appropriate sections. This makes it harder to find those threads.

No system is perfect but I think we improved the site when we got rid of the responses in that section..

Anyway, all the best to you all!

Jim

Caveat emptor! We should all know this but with this feature, we can't help out our fellow shooters if we do see something that needs noted...

Also a seller won't have some tire kicker replying to point out every minuscule flaw with an item, question the items lineage, trying to beat the seller down, then some third party chiming in with a rebuttal, etc, etc, next thing you know a simple ad. has turned into a five page operations order.
