A while back I purchased a couple of L46 long magazines stamped .222 that had been modified to include a spacer in the rear for hornet length cartridges. Anyway I wanted to convert these back for use with my 7x33 when I eventually get it built with long projectiles. After stripping the magazine and removing the spacer I built another magazine spring using music wire purchased from http://www.smallparts.com.au/ which sells spring wire in 0.6m lengths. You'll need a full length for each spring. The process I followed is pretty much shown in the pictures. I first created a small jig for wrapping the wire into the correct spacing and then cut to length. Process is pretty easy. Next was to create a new follower which again was a bit of hacksaw and file work. I made it slightly beefier than the original. Anyway I though you guys might be interest in a few photo's of the process. 1st photo shows the internals of the magazines from: as found on left, my created internals in the middle and a stock standard factory on the right. 2nd photo shows factory spring top, jig centre with spring wire and completed spring bottom.
Anyway might be useful to someone else at some stage!
