• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hi all.
My first Sako. Handles beautifully and shoots very well. Absolutely thrilled.
I detachted the mounted scope and would very much like to find a rear scope sight (is that what its called? see last photo...) for to be shooting without a scope. now where to find these?
It says Bofors Steel and serial number 92xxx. Any idea when this was made?
All the best, Ryan

around 1968 or so. Nice rig, looks like somebody robbed the rear site of the elevation parts. Will be next to impossible to find them, and if you do it should be the "push button" elevator. Hard to beat an old L461 carbine ! congrats.

Exactly, the elevation parts, I am looking for. Sad to hear they are that difficult to source. I have no idea how they look. Can they be custom made perhaps by a skilled g6n maker?

This may help

Ryan, congratulations on your .222 Magnum Mannlicher. They are a fairly scarce item in that caliber. If you can't find the parts for the rear sight you might consider finding a Sako removable peep (aperture) sight which fits on the rear dovetail. Sako sold these as accessories years ago, but they are fairly commonly found on the market in the U.S. -- possibly not so common in Europe where most Sakos came with open iron sights mounted. Here is a random example of one as offered on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sako-Facto...386450?hash=item1cfdef0d52:g:F5EAAOSw34Jf-IxZ

Big thanks... will consider the aperture solution too :)

Being in Denmark, which is not so far from Finland, you might be able to find your rear sight parts. I would look online for some gun shops and gunsmiths in Finland, especially in the Helsinki area, and see if they might have some old parts in stock. Such parts are all but impossible to find in the USA, but you might do better in Finland.

Also, what is the barrel length of that Sako? 600mm? Or is it more like 500? If it is a full-length rifle with a 600mm barrel, it is a rare bird indeed. In the US, the L461 carbine with a 480-500mm barrel is uncommon, but a Mannlicher-stocked rifle with a 600mm barrel is truly rare, especially in .222 Magnum.

Will do, much appreciated.
Just measured the lenght. Between 58 and 67 cm - unsure what makes up barrel lenght (including the chamber or not?)
