• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hi all, I'm looking for any info on complete disassembly and reassembly of the firing pin on my M995 TRG-s. Its pretty difficult to find any help either online or otherwise with these older sako rifles. I'm not close to any gunsmiths so anyone with experience or step by step instructions would really be appreciated.

It is the same as the TRG 42 if that helps in your search.

How far do you want to take it apart? What are you trying to do?

I ordered a new one from stoeger. They said the trg 42 was the same. Well, not exactly. I need to get the cocking indicator out of my old one, so it's a complete strip down

Remove the bolt.

Hold the bolt body in your left hand an turn the bolt shroud clockwise until it pops off.

Use a punch to drive out the cotter pin. There is spring tension on it so beware.

Reassembly after exchanging the parts are reverse of disassembly.

(Excuse me if using incorrect naming of tool and parts, english is not my first language.)

Thank you, after a closer look( I have old eyes) there is a tiny roll pin that holds the cocking pin and spring in the firng pin. I'm on my way now!

I'm fairly certain the cocking indicator in your older style firing pin will not work on the new one. Depending on the model it might actually be the rear end of the firing pin that serves as the cocking indicator in the old one. New ones have a separate piece. Here's a picture of the parts in the new style: upload_2021-9-20_9-53-15.png

Yes. Stoeger sent me the new indicator pin but not the spring or the retainer for it. I'm hoping to harvest those parts from the old pin.
