• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Pre72 Sako Deluxe Spreadsheet

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

I was looking through some old gun records and ran across this spreadsheet of a Sako Deluxe collection that was for sale in Clovis, NM in 1998. A friend and I decided to pool our money and make an offer on the rifles, and if successful, split them. The yellow highlight is the ones I wanted. IIRC, the guy wanted $16000. I drove the 800 miles to look at the rifles, made this spreadsheet, and then called my buddy and discussed how much we wanted to pay. We were disappointed there wasn't a 244 and even more disappointed the collection contained a 7x33. We made a few calls and couldn't find anyone willing to buy the 7x33. We made an offer of 14K figuring he would counter with 15K, but he said his price of 16K was firm. We passed on the rifles. In 40 years of chasing Sakos, this 7x33 and two others is all I've actually seen. I saw one of the other two for sale at the Tulsa gun show about 5 years later. Would be fun to have a chance to buy collections similar to this. Doesn't seem to happen any more. I hope I'm not guilty of posting this spreadsheet a few years back and forgotten about it.

Doug. Its a shame that you live so far away or you might find that I could possibly have what you may be looking for. I still have a few rare ones left. Sakojim.

Those seventeen rifles at $16,000 in 1998 would be $28,691 in today's dollars (see https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ ). That is $1,687 each. That might not be a bad price, but considering that some of them were not in top condition I would have felt the same about the price being "on the bubble" and I might have passed on the deal at that time. Deluxes have gone up in price somewhat more than standards, but condition is much more important on Deluxes, so they can be hurt more by showing usage or defects.
