• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

    Sako .270 info.

Jim it is a Finnbear, its in immaculate condition and yes its very accurate, but HEAVY. Itching to put something more than paper in the crosshairs!!! Have been hunting over the last few days but it was all .223 work, so my new Tikka is now well and truly blooded. Also a beautiful rifle, and...

    Sako .270 info.

G'day All, I have an opportunity to purchase a Sako 270 model L61R Serial number 512XXX. It is apparently in immaculate condition, I'm not really interested in a valuation because the offer is too good to refuse, BUT I would just like some information on the year of manufacture and any other...

Sako L46 22 Hornet Magazine service

I've had my first shot of AZ, waiting for the second, but the vaccine roll out has been pretty shabby I must say, with a poor uptake as well.

Sako L46 22 Hornet Magazine service

At this stage who knows, been 3 weeks so far. At least I can get to the local lake for some fly casting practise. Got a friends farm 20 minutes away that's lousy with rabbits but I can't get to it. Heavy fines at the moment and numbers keep growing.

Sako L46 22 Hornet Magazine service

At what distance? I was meant to spend yesterday out at the rifle range but we're in full lockdown at the moment.

Sako L46 22 Hornet Magazine service

I'm in the Blue Mountains Ronnie, 1.5 hours west of Sydney. I'll put through some Hornady's next week at the range. and report back, see what kind of grouping I can get. Yep our gun laws are tough but we do have some very good organisations on our side. I shoot light game, goats, rabbits, hares...

Sako L46 22 Hornet Magazine service

Ammo for it is pretty limited unfortunately, and expensive (I'm in Australia). I have been shooting the Winchester 45 grain jacketed soft points, and the similar Remington version. The Winchesters were part of the problem. I have bought some Hornady 35grn V-Max but at $2 a shot I'm hanging onto...

Sako L46 22 Hornet Magazine service

Yes I noticed the Remington ammo does go in a little cleaner more frequently but its all a bit random. I suspect part of the problem is also with the magazine fit being slightly loose, its not locking in properly. Might need a visit to the local gunsmith. Thanks for the advise.

Sako L46 22 Hornet Magazine service

I have been hunting with my old L46 Hornet and what a wonderfully sweet accurate rifle it is, BUT, it has developed a poor feed from the magazine and I suspect the internals MAY need a clean, (my first option?). Before I go pulling it apart does anyone have a reference to disassembling one.

Thanks for that information Colin. The previous owner was a meticulous man with a very interesting history and background, so no doubt it does have some stories to tell.

Made in the year I was born. 1954.

    G'day From Australia as well.

Thanks guys, my own first born son instantly laid an inheritance claim to it. I'll get some good pics of it and post them here. It's an old rifle that has seen some use in the field, it's not been a "wall hanger". Is there somewhere I can trace its origins and date of manufacture through the...

    G'day From Australia as well.

An old friend of mine recently gave me his L46 .22 Hornet. Its a very sweet rifle and look forward to many days of hunting with it. Just getting used to it. Think I'll keep the Pecar 3X36 scope just to maintain the authenticity.
