• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Newbie gets first Sako. what do I have here?

At the price you paid, the build parts are well worth it. a good SS barrel will set you back 300+ . If you have a decent caliper , measure the diameter of the barrel in front of the action to where the taper starts, This will give an idea of what could be done with the barrel if it a is...

    Need Help:Locating 691 Recoil Block

Most gunsmiths or ( small ) machine shops could make this for you for a reasonable amount. Just give them accurate dimensions.

    Garcia etched on receiver

Perhaps they didn't want to take the risk of removing the stock for the 1968 GCA

    Re-barrel Model 75 IV .270 Win S/S?

The tenon specs. being metric , don't matter for lathe work. Most modern lathes will cut metric threads ( if they are used on the 75 series actions) . The threads on the 995 action are definitely metric , just under 1.0625". Most tenon specs. are on the sloppy side to account for debris &...

    L461 barrel swap

Do you reload or are you planning to reload, if so I would keep it "as is" until a stock locates you. I don't expect 222RM to become available "as new production" for a long time, none of my distributors list it anymore.

    H&R 17 Rem 317P Ultra Wilcat Arrives

The .750" step is typical for bloop tube installation. The satin type finish of bead blasting reduces sunlight glare

Sako Finnbear Deluxe 25-06.. honest answers please :)

The 500,000 serial numbers came about in mid to late 74. The early 70's had special serial numbers for anniversary models ( completely out of sequence )

Sako Finnbear Deluxe 25-06.. honest answers please :)

You beat me to it " enotstehw " , I figured you would have picked up on that. Any how an open sight Deluxe is hard to come by, you have a "nice" find. It is definitely a two lug.

which Sako rifle action is the BEST and how would you rate them L61,AV or L691

I would have preferred the 995's to have a full top strap like the 42 & 22. Going up in weight over a 5 pound barrel has been a concern of mine.

    New Sako owner

You need to put some pics up for assistance. The unfired part really means proceed with caution. If the original configuration wasn't up to what is needed, it is normally cheaper to sell & buy what is needed then to repipe I bought a rifle once just for the scope & was told it was a 300...

Need some input from all of you!

"You are absolutely right about the "newbie" questions but that is just the way it is, both here and elsewhere. I´ve seen that on every forum and I believe we just have to live with it. I have been a newbie and done just the same so there we are." I seen this before where as a "new" member...

No Machined Dovetailed Mounts on My Forester

Barrels are normally stamped after final assembly so marks ( caliber & model )are visible & properly aligned .

No Machined Dovetailed Mounts on My Forester

Different years, same size action. They used to hand fit everything back in those days. The chances of getting different years of components to line up correctly ( unless you are a gunsmith or machinist ) is remote but possible. If you have headspace gauges, I would use them before first...

Sako AV 300 Win Mag barrel questions

M995's & 75's have recessed crown, so if you have a late AV it very well could be factory. The AV from above post is in the 570K serial #'s

Sako AV 300 Win Mag barrel questions

Just checked an AV in 30-06, 90 degree muzzle without lions head. My 75 in 300WM coal is 3.510 with 155 scenar"s. 3.454 with 190 MK HPBT

Sako AV 300 Win Mag barrel questions

" I'm wondering if the gun has been re-crowned and not threaded all the way back to normal to keep the barrel length to spec." If the barrel wasn't threaded tight to the action it would be loose. Sako factory barrels have a forcing cone type throat similar to revolvers, that will give you...
