• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

    Sako Enfields

Thanks for the photo. Yeah I’m not sure if someone had changed the bolt head but I’ve seen two now with flat bolt heads. I actually got to handle one and it feed and ejected live rounds. But I wasn’t able to let one off and see what it did. Still haven’t seen a .308 version yet.

Good info piper. Both mine have standard sako front sites so I’d say your Remington maybe an add on like the flat bottom magazine. One question - is your bolt face/head recessed or flat on face? Since I did my first post on this I’ve seen a couple of these that appear to have the original bolt...

New Sako Bespoke/prestige vs Super Deluxe

I didn’t see that one before. Would be interested to know what grade wood it has. You don’t see many super deluxes for sale lately neither. A while back there was a few floating around.

    Sako L46 Männlicher 22 Hornet

I don’t know about an exchange program but here in oz I’ve seen old advertisements for the later machined bottom metal which was available to purchase as a part to upgrade the old stamped bottom metal. So it was something offered by sako distributors here in Australia for a cost. If you really...

New Sako Bespoke/prestige vs Super Deluxe

I see Sako now have "Prestige" and "bespoke"models in the line up. Described as an update to the current deluxe model so in old terms I suppose its the new word for "super deluxe". They look good but I think I'll hang onto my old super deluxe for the time being. Makes you appreciate how much...

    Sako L61R questions

Bofors marked L61r rifles also usually co-inside with a L61r action that has an extra locking lug on the bolt at the rear of the bolt near the bolt handle. Some call it a safety lug. It was removed to speed the manufacturing process. Search “sako L61r 3 lug bolt” for more info.

Was there ever an L46 Mannlicher Carbine?

Yeah there are a few L46 Fullwood carbines in this neck of the woods. Not super common but they pop up from time to time. Below is my warhorse in .222. Its shot some stuff in its time! I really like the 20 inch barrel.

Attempting to Determine Value of .222 Sako Vixen L57 1959

Yes your right. It was at the rock island auction in 1996. See this post for a picture of it. https://sakocollectors.com/forum/threads/book-review-rock-island-auction-catalogue-nov-1996.10279/

    Sako is working today.

Norway that is awesome and congratulations to you and your daughter. Nothing better than hunting with your kids. What cal. Is the fullwood? Cool dog too. I see lots of photos of that breed of dog in hunting photos from Europe etc. is the breed a tracking type dog or do they flush out game?

    Some interesting adverts from Australia

:D Cool looking deluxe .25-20. That’s the only other I’ve ever seen apart from my own. Probably only a half dozen of them ever made. If the records SCC have are fake I have a job for whoever done it! Must have taken years and years and also to put stuff in like the leaking ink from the previous...

Do you know of a source for aftermarket stocks for Sako L46?

Try http://hatchersriflestocks.com.au/products-21/english-classic-sporter/sako-l46.html I’m sure he would post to Canada no problems. You Can also select grade of walnut. If your after a higher end blank I’m sure he would also send you photos of blanks to select before shaping. Here’s one I...

A couple of home made boys knives

Well the boys have been using there knives reasonably regularly and haven't managed to lose them yet! I took one with me yesterday and dressed a full old nanny goat with it. Must say I was surprised how well it went in holding an edge compared with my usual case xx knife. may have to make one...

    Custom Australian Sako L61r

Well a fair few years back I picked up a great walnut blank from Gordon Cusens in Tasmania and got him to machine it into a 'English' style stock with a drop belly style magazine/forend step and classic style English cheek piece. I was going to have a go at finishing it myself but the machined...
