• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

    Ejection Issues Model 85 varmint

Simply for the chance of thinking the gun is empty when it isn't. Also if the ammo doesn't want to fall out just by gravity it's a pain in the butt to get out in the field if you can't get the extractor to grab it.

    Ejection Issues Model 85 varmint

Just be careful. If you overdo it, it will not extract unfired cartridge reliably thus creating a very dangerous condition. Another thing one can try with XS receiver size is to shorten down the bolt stop to allow the bolt to come back further thus increasing the distance the ejector point...

supressor on l61r yes or no?

That's a lot of deer. White tail harvest for the whole of Finland was 67 000 in 2022-23 and 59 000 last hunting season. o_O

supressor on l61r yes or no?

Just like Spaher said the accuracy gains come mostly from shooter comfort. The suppressor takes away a lot of the recoil and most of the muzzle blast, so the shooter can be more relaxed and less likely to jerk the trigger. Adding weight to the barrel does dampen the harmonics of the barrel and I...

    Mis-identified -- and Ineligible

"ABSOLUTELY PERFECT IN EVERY WAY" That butt pad looks like it's about to crumble, but is having second thoughts if it should turn to a puddle of goop instead. In relative terms it's doing pretty good, but PERFECT isn't it. 😂

    help with bullet selection

It's the plastic tipped bullets that tend to be faster to open, so Hornady SST or Sierra GameKing for example. Lighter bullet with higher impact speed will be less likely to over penetrate since the opening action is so ... explosive. If you load some old timey lead nose, like a HammerHead, to...

    help with bullet selection

I guess you could use a bullet that has fast expansion and low weight retention. But you will get roasted about the meat loss. "Did you shoot it with a cannon?" etc. And you could always miss in a fast situation, which is equally dangerous for any human down range, so in that sense there is no...

    Ithaca LSA-65 - Leather Covered

Addition to the colors above there are also suede ones floating around. All of them give me the heebie-jeebies with a side of gag reflex. I had unpleasant experience working on one that had seen some close action over the decades and was delivered wet and smelling of all kinds of funk. You can...

will fast bullets damage my barrels?

Now that I read it again I think simple bullets may be exempt, but I really can't tell. Legalese is difficult enough in native language not to mention in foreign one. Previously I have had difficulties getting Barnes bullets from Germany because there was some ITAR bs preventing sale out of the...

greetings from Finland, from a Dutchman

I feel like the rib could have been soldered back in place rather easily and cheaply. Then again I don't know any smiths up in northern Finland that I would trust to touch anything more delicate than a tire iron. What is done is done and it didn't seem to hurt it too much.

    no bolt lift

If it did it while simply dry firing my guess addition to what was said above is a dry cocking cam. If it is without lubricant it can seize so badly that one could feel the bolt will not lift no matter what. With the trigger unit off I think you can apply grease to the cam surface with a syringe...

Finland to Open up New Shooting Ranges

Nice sentiment from the government. I hope this ends the green terror that has closed several ranges on environmental and noise complaint basis. It boggles my mind how a shooting range that has been there almost as long as Finland itself must close down because some hippie couple (no offense to...

    Sako Quad Extractor

I'd call it top and bottom, but I think you got it. It's a cylindrical hole drilled just far enough to break that small hole, so you can get at the pin. Very small punch through the small hole and gently tap the pin out. If it worked before and started doing it just recently I would guess some...

Anybody know what is the meaning of this: STD, FS, M08, SS

The new Sako page is so bad I doubt even people who made the page know what it means. But having been dealing with Sakos for some time here goes: STD is indeed standard, however it is unclear what it refers to. In this case I believe it means fixed stock. FS means folding stock. M08 I'm not...

Sako 75 Varmint laminated stainless with set trigger

In that case I agree a new barrel might be the answer.

Sako 75 Varmint laminated stainless with set trigger

Does it shoot well with a clean bore and just fouls up fast? If so, lapping it more might help.

The First 100 years of Sako

They do. I think deliveries are supposed to start by the end of this year. It's a small batch, under ten thousand guns guessing by the published €€ value, but it's a start.

    Sako Quad bolt shim advice

No, since you are only tightening the headspace, which we can fairly safely assume to be within spec, just at the larger end of the range.

    Sako Quad bolt shim advice

I'd be worried about any springiness those shims will introduce to the bolt. Can you trust it to be consistent from shot to shot? I'm 99% sure the T1x is identical in the measurements where you would put the shims, but to be sure you can take your bolt apart, take measurements and ask the shop...

    Sako Sako 243 Win

I don't see why it matters, nor do I believe Sako has all the best stuff in this case. If you are making the ammo just get the best components available to you. But to answer your question the powder is Vihtavuori, bullets are from all over the place. Some made in house, some bought. Cartridge...
