I have a Sako AII which has the older style angular stock as opposed to the later rounded stock with palm-swell that was on the AII. I weighed the stock and it came to 2 lbs 0.7 oz which is nice and light for a wooden stock. It seems as though the more rounded stocks on the AII weigh around 6 oz heavier. I do like the look and feel of the more rounded stocks as I have an AI with this style stock, but if I buy another AII I don't want a 6 oz weight penalty as this will bring the weight of the rifle with scope to over 8 lbs as opposed to 7 lb 12 oz. Has anyone else noticed the weight difference between the two styles of stock on the AII or can the variation be explained by just different weight densities of the stocks I have weighed? Thank you.
