    Just eyeballing it, I'd say it's a L61R deluxe.

I wonder if they are interchangeable.

The AV has a slightly longer rear tang. I think the action screws are still spaced the same as the L61R. A L61r stock will have to be modified to fit an AV.
    Good luck!

Be aware that Sako changed it's barrel contours over the years and unless your barreled action is from the same era as the stock it will require some wood removal or it may leave an excess gap along the barrel. The action inletting for the L61R, the AIII, & the AV are the same except the AV rear tang inlet is about 1/4" longer & can be filled, if necessary or a L61r or AIII tang inlet can be lengthened to accommodate an AV. Just an FYI.

Thank you, I will see what it goes for and have to decide if its worth the chance it might work.

Just for what it is worth. I would wallow in goatshead stickers just to have a chance to put that stock on one of my actions. By all means buy it if you can afford it. The wood is out of this world.

It looks pretty good, but I like the wood on my classic way better.

That is an anomaly, even for a good classic stock.

Well, I was successful bidding on the stock (L61R Deluxe, we think), it arrived today. I took my AV action and it all seems to line up very well except the tang as mentioned above seems to be about a 3/8" longer, so hopefully be able to remove some of the wood and fit that up nicely.
The rear action screw hole on the stock seems to be a larger diameter, will make a sleeve to fit.
I will have to wait until I get the tang fit, to check the barrel contouring (it looks ok so far).
I noticed it has the number 2152 stamped in the wood (in the barrel contouring area), any thoughts on this?
Thank you for the assistance above!

The tang on the AV action is about 1/4" longer than the L61R or the AIII, so you will have to inlet the wood in that area accordingly. Sako changed their barrel contours over the years & through all the various changes to the L61R action, so the barrel channel may or may not match your barrel. The number stamped in your barrel channel is most likely an internal production stamping Sako used during manufacture for their own use & has no relevance to anything outside the factory. Proper bedding of the action will make the rear action screw hole diameter in the stock irrelevant. Pics of what you have would help us determine what you actually have.

    Thanks
I recieved it from the auction house, the other day, it definitely looks like its the deluxe L61R that the folks above thought it was, it definitely has some character of the dark from the butt end up into the lighter stock as seen in the pics (4) above.
I'm struggling with deciding to modify it to fit my AV action or not.

I struggled with the decision of filling an AV stock to fit an L61R but then again, filling with epoxy is easier than cutting to fit. I'd do it if I were you. That stock is incredible and would look great on your AV!! Good luck with it!
