Replating Questions

    6D2E056D-D209-4EED-AE72-0E57D4D34FDD.jpeg I have a 579 and the bolt guard strip needs to be replated. Has anyone had this type service done and had satisfactory results? Is bolt disassembly and assembly a concern?
    Recommendations.

    If you are refering to the bolt guide-rod.....it is not plated.
    For moderate spotting/staining, I use a small red scotch-brite pad. For light rust, I suggest 400 grit silicon-carbide backed with a small felt pad.
    Mask-off entire bolt....except guide-rod.

    Resist the urge to remove the guide-rod from the bolt.........unless you have good/much experience doing so. One wrong move....and you can snap the guide-rod collar(s). They're rare as hens teeth.
