There's a "Sako III" on gunbroker, chambered for .243 Win. The marking on the side of the receiver really does look like "III" -- i.e., not AIII... What's a Sako III? -Chris
It's a Model 75. They were made from 1996 to 2006. None of the 75's were stamped with the model number, as it was the only sporting rifle model they made. Sako merely stamped them with I, III, SM, IV, & V to denote the different action sizes. The III is for the 22-250, 243, 308 etc. size cartridges. I is 223 size, SM is for the short magnums, IV for 30-06 class, & V for the big magnums. Sako's plan was to make a II size specifically for the PPC bolt face & it was listed as an option in some of the initial promotional ads, but decided to use the III for the PPC's instead & never actually made the II size.
