I found a Sako AV Mannlicher that looks to be in nearly new condition in 30-06 at a gun shop near my house. Any guesses to what a deal would be? Fair price? Bad price?
    Thanks
    Pat

If it is truly "as new", then it will take something north of $1,000 to buy it.

They are asking 1200.00 for it. Not sure what a bit of haggling could do as it's a consignment gun.
    No scope on it.
Is it worth what they're asking for it?
They also have a near new Sako L16R finnbear in 30-06 that they want 800.00 for ......i've seen those for less on gunsamerica??

    375,

From what I have seen, $1200 for any other caliber than 30-06 would be an OK price (for an AV mannlicher). I have seen them sell on Gunbroker for under $1000.

Don't give up on the haggling on consignments. I have got a few deals just by asking. All they can say is no.

In reference to the L61R, if it was a pre Garcia and in near new condition, I would gladly give them $800 for it. Even a 30-06.

    Good luck.

    375,
If I liked it, I'd offer them $1,000 and if they refused, I'd offer to split the difference at $1,100 and see what happens. I haven't run into too many hard-noses who aren't willing to come down a little. If not, ask if they'll throw in a box or two of ammo. Good Luck!

    Hey 375,
I own 6 pre-72 L61R Finnbears with the Mannlicher stock. All are 98-99% and all original with sight hood, rings, and good pads. The highest I paid (two months ago) was $1,195 for a pristine 7mm Mag with a mint Burris 3-9. I am waiting for delivery of another one I purchased three days ago, 99% with rings, hood etc. in .30-06. Paid $995. $1200 is WAY to much to pay for an AV. Maybe if it had a Zeiss on it. I have found all of my Sako Mannlichers on Gunbroker, Gunsamerica and Gunsinternational. If the L61R .30-06 is a pre-72 snatch it up.
    Regards, Will

Thank you everyone for your replies. The L616 has the garcia markins on the underside of the barrel so that got shot down as well......ah well I thought I had perhaps found a good deal!
    Thanks again!
    I'll.keep looking!

    Hey 375 and all,
Gunbroker listing #141284225 is a pre-72 l61R Mannlicher in .30-06. Looks in pretty nice condition by the photo's. Pad looks good, has front sight hood and swivels, no scope rings though. $1,199 opening bid with no reserve. I think only 4 hours left till close.
    Regards, Will
