My P94S has a small, I think, plastic band where the barrel meets the receiver. It doesn't seem to perform any function, but the stock is inletted around it so I assume it goes all the way around the barrel. On my rifle this band has come loose--it probably split or cracked somewhere I can't see it, on the underside of the barrel. Are replacements available? If so, should I replace it? Or just pull it out and discard? Just leave it alone?

The way the barrel is attached and headspaced will always leave a small gap between the receiver face and the barrel. The plastic ring is there to hide the gap. Removing it will not hurt anything other than the aesthetics.
