• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Sako Safari Expert Needed

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Hello to all. I am a new member here but longtime member of other gun forums. I have hunted all my life with Sako rifles but never really collected or dealt with them. I have a local guy trying to sell me a Sako Safari in 300 WM. Need to know if it is a factory or other custom made rifle and what the approximate value might be. It is truly a gorgeous piece. Please help if you can. Thanks!

In my opinion it may not be a Sako Safari factory rifle, but would need more than the three included pictures to 100% say for sure. Several more photos are needed.

Sako Safari rifles are AIV models and have features the example you’re showing which are not present. That is, a deeper magazine well which extends the stock bottom to accommodate the extra rounds and bottom metal. There should be a factory red pad, barrel band etc. I’d suggest looking on this site for AIV Sakos or elsewhere on the internet.

Did search the internet and never found any looking like this. Checkering is different. This one also has a black Decelerator pad?? Leaning toward a non factory custom gun. Barrels Only marking is "300 WM"

Not a Sako Safari model. Barrel band front swivel? Flip up rear sights? Pad? Checkering? Front sight band? & so forth.
Attached is a photo of a Safari in .300 WM.
My op is fair price around $3,000. For a real Safari, if in good condition as a Safari brings a higher price than a std model.
This one not 1/2.
