To all members of SCC!
The old database was an attempt to approximate the dates of production, based on the assumption that the serial numbers were somewhat linear.
As we've seen, the serial numbers are far from linear. This means that the old database used an inaccurate assumption and actually confuses rather than clarifies the age of any given Sako.
I simply don't see any point to continuing the database now that we know how inaccurate it is -- and now that we have the exact dates of inspection at our fingertips.
While researching, we´ve found several consecutive serial numbers which are as much as 5 years apart in time.
But I really do applaud all the work that went in to this by Scott and his predecessors!!
Cheers!
Jim
