• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hi
Finally decided to sell my Sako Finnbear L61R .264 mag. the SN is 12XXX, Bofors Steel. I think the barrel is the shorter 24 in but don't know exactly where to measure from. I'm no expert with rifles but besides a few small dings in the stock it is in excellent shape..slides great and the barrel is in great shape.
I think it is early 60's but not sure.
I am not posting a price at this moment because I will entertain any and all offers including trades. So please feel free to contact me with questions and/or offers-I'm willing to negotiate.
Hopefully my pictures will upload.
Thanks for viewing

JC: Put a cleaning rod down the barrel from the muzzle until it rests against the face of the closed bolt. Put a piece of masking tape or similar on the rod flush with the muzzle. The measurement from the end of the rod to the tape is the barrel length. It should be 24.4" on your rifle.

By the way, nice looking old Sako you have there. You might add a photo of the recoil pad as these can vary greatly in condition on a gun of this age.

Hint: It is better to place a gun on a darker background to photograph it. The light background causes the automatic shutter stop in most cameras to close down a bit, leaving the darker rifle stock and metal obscured compared to the bright background.
