• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Sako Modded L61R Question

I recently got my hands on a .264 L61R Finnbear Deluxe (I'll edit with pics once I get it back from my friend's field test. Lol)
It's actually in really amazing shape considering it was a gift, the only issue(s) is that the previous owner replaced the original wood stock with a lighter synthetic, and shortened the barrel about 6 inches and threaded the muzzle to accommodate a muzzle brake.
I'm wondering how these changes affect the accuracy/recoil/value of this rifle?

My personal opinion is that the rifle has lost considerable value with these alterations both in collect-ability and performance. It baffles me why anyone would want to alter or shoot such a caliber with a shortened barrel and a muzzle blaster. If you do plan to shoot it please wear good ear muffs. Sakojim.

I almost figured as much.
To be fair to the previous owner though, the 2 times I've shot it (so far), I had my typical groupings at 200 yards, and the recoil was still considerably less than my Remington 700 in the same caliber. Ditto on the ear protection tho. Lmao

Toss the muzzle brake and get a suppressor in its place. This will make the rifle bearable to shoot, although velocities will be a couple of hundred FPS short of what they might otherwise be. Yes, its value as a collectible has been negated, but as a suppressed hunting rifle it might be worthwhile.
