• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Finnwolf VL63 Finnwolf Magazine manufacture?

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

I have an older finnwolf with coffin bottom magazine. Like everyone here, unable to locate a spare. I am working with a local manufacturer to possibly make a magazine. Obviously not for the collectors in the group. But for those who are shooters, would there be interest in a mag or two, if he is able to manufacture? I suspect I will be responsible for the magazine spring and follower, but he thinks he may be able to manufacture the body. I don't think they will be blued. That will likely be an owner project. I suspect cost will vary depending on number. Still investigating and do not have a cost estimate yet. I cannot imagine they will be as costly as original.

I too would be interested in extra magazines. I have both the coffin and smooth style. Any, I can get my hands on, would be much appreciated.

To my knowledge there were many more Finnwolfs made with the 3-shot flush magazine than the 4-shot coffin-bottom magazine. One will not fit in the receiver made for the other (although modifying the receiver might be possible). Therefore there would be more demand for the flush than the coffin. You might want to consider this if toying with the possibility of having some reproductions made.

Great News: My gunsmith here in Tennessee was able to modify a pair of Win 88 mags to function in my Sako!
He can modify the Win 88 or 100 mag to function.
Get in touch! His name is Mike Ryan, Rogersville Tennessee USA.
Notes/Suggestions from Mike:
The Win followers are aluminum, not steel like the Sako. Suggests you may want to have your bolt polished a bit to reduce wear.
Even though they are coffin bottom, they are 3 round, not 4.
I loan him my rife as needed to confirm fit and function.
No issues with mine, both function well.
