• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Finwolf .243

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Hi
Seems like a high price range. Listed as $2500 to $3000 range. I have a .308 Finnwolf here in Australia - DW Custer Comemorative XX of 105 made. Its similar to the SCC Finnwolfs but do they have the same value? The one I have has a more upmarket fancy sako stock than the SCC ones.
Blue book value of the SCC comemorative finnwolfs is $2995US for 100%. Is a DW Custer Comemorative worth the same ? There was less of the DW Custer series made 105 vs 175 and the DW Custer also has a much fancier stock checkering so is it worth more or less than the SCC finnwolfs?
I also notice one here https://huntingandfishing.co.nz/index.php/pi_pageid/4/pi_productid/3001 for $3995NZ
Anyone care to shed some light on this and the values of the 'custer comemoratives'? I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now if my finnwolf is really worth this much:bigsmile3:? Ive been keeping my eye out for its twin brother .243:wink2:

Top Gear,
A NIB with papers SCA commemorative in .308 Just sold here in the last month for $1,900 USD. I would think the DW Custer would fetch a little more since there were fewer of them made, especially if the wood is primo.
However, any rifle is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Hi S-A

Thanks for the reply. Interesting how much less expense sako's are in the US compared to here in Australia. Yeah I agree its amasing what some people pay. However here in Australia I would have know problem getting $2000 for my DWCluster in .308 in used condition. As an example a L461 in excellent used condition will set you back $1250-1500 and a L46 more. Our dollar is one for one with the US ;) However a new 85 here is $2300 so the old ones are still cheap in comparison and better made in my opinion;)
The L461 and earlier L46 have a real reputation here. Profressional roo and fox shooters would offen wear out 3 or 4 barrels with little more than just having to replace the extractor on the third barrel. Pretty good reliability;)
Guys like Col Alison here in oz and Rex Forrester in NZ also did a lot for there reputation in shooting mags and books.

But back to finnwolfs - it would be intesting to find out what the finnwolf at the start of the post went for.

Cheers TopGear
