I wonder if it has the square tang floorplate and "s" shaped floorplate release; also wonder if it has the open-centered stock crossbolt nut? These features are usually found on rifles with Bofors-marked barrels[/QUOT
Both these Finnbears were manufactured in 1969 according to the factory records. They are both standard grade. The lighter one is the .300 WinMag and the darker one is the .270. What should I be looking for as far as floorplate differences and cross bolt nuts?
Sven, Oly, and Lars worked for the WPA in the depression planting trees. Sven would dig the hole, Oly would put the seedling in the hole, and Lars would cover it up. One day only Sven and Lars showed up and Sven dug the holes and Lars covered them up. When asked why they were doing that Sven replied "Vell, Oly got sick but the other two of us, we can't quit vorking just because Oly's not here!"Swen & Olie jokes are the best "donch ya know".
My .300 Bofors is nearly identical to your lighter colored rifle in every way. Serial numbers are are very close as mentioned. 38xxx on mine as well. Obviously based on Sakos production and record keeping, it doesn’t mean mine and yours were produced in the same period. It’s simply amazing the stark contrast of wood color etc. I’ve not requested a record search as it really wasn’t important, although I may rethink that.OK, I deserve that. LOL
The top two rifles are 1969 .300 Win Mags. The next rifle is the 1969 .270 and the bottom one is a 1972 7mm. To my untrained eye, The .300’s and the 7mm have the same checkering pattern. It looks like a double outside border?
