• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

New L57 owner

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Howdy all. New here, not new to the firearms world.

Retired LE after 27 years, own a firearms training company and small ammo manufacturing company.

Just acquired a L57 No. 1910 that has been rebarreled to a 25-284...will most likely have it changed to a 6mm Remington. Am sure the stock is not original...will post pics later today.

Looking for info about scope mounts and whats best. It currently has some lever type quick detach mounts with a Leupold Vari-XIII 4-12, but want a more permanent, solid type mount.

Welcome ! I have only been here a day or two. I am enjoying learning about the rifles I have a Sako in .223. I thought I might have two but these folks helped be to determine that is is a Mauser with Sako barrel.

Beautiful wood. Wood that nice deserves a nice checkering job. You might look for someone to do the stock when you have it rebarreled.

Be sure to run some 6mm Rem (or .257 Rob) ammunition through the action before rebarreling to make sure that the feed rails haven't been altered for the fatter .284 case and that it will still feed the smaller diameter rounds.

Yes, been thinking about checkering as well.

Great thought on the feed rails. Just chambered several 6mm rounds..all fed fine.
